The facility contains the State of Illinois\u2019 House and Senate Chambers and functions as an assembly room for the State\u2019s legislative branch. The legislative chambers were constructed of new millwork, metal handrails, wood paneling, plaster ceilings, painting, carpet, marble columns, and circular art glass. A new lay light assembly with an attic-located light gauge steel and gypsum board enclosure box completed the construction. The project also features the installation of new theater seating, member desks, speaker podiums, and indirect lighting, replacement of the heating ventilation and air conditioning systems in both houses, and removal of asbestos.
